Managing Products

Your product catalog is the foundation of AVStackr. Add equipment, enrich with AI, and organize for fast searching.

Adding Products

Import from Excel (Recommended)

The fastest way to populate your catalog:

  1. Click Import on the Products page
  2. Upload your Excel file, paste a URL, or connect to GitHub
  3. Map your columns to product fields
  4. Preview and confirm
Excel Format Tips
  • First row should contain column headers
  • Required: At least Make or Model
  • Recommended: Make, Model, Part#, Description, Price
  • You can map any column to any field during import

Add Manually

  1. Click Create New
  2. Enter Make, Model, or Part#
  3. Optionally click Fill with AI (see below)
  4. Click Create

Fill with AI

When creating or editing a product, click Fill with AI to automatically:

  • Look up the product using web search
  • Generate a description from manufacturer data
  • Suggest corrections to Make/Model if it finds a better match
  • Fill in missing fields like Part# or specifications

Review the suggestions and click Apply to accept, or edit manually. Requires AI credits.

Editing and Deleting

Click any product row to open the edit page. Changes save when you click Save.

To delete products:

  • Single product: Open the product and click Delete
  • Bulk delete: Select multiple products using checkboxes, then click Delete Selected
Products in Projects

Editing a product updates it everywhere it's used. Deleting a product removes it from your catalog but project line items are preserved as custom entries.

Product Fields

Core Fields

  • Make - Manufacturer (e.g., "Shure", "Crestron")
  • Model - Model number
  • Part# - SKU for ordering
  • Description - Short description (shows in lists)
  • Long Description - Detailed description
  • Price - Your cost price

Classification

  • Vendor - Primary supplier
  • Product Type - Category (Display, Microphone, etc.)
  • Room Type - Typical application
  • Tags - Keywords for searching

AI-Generated Fields

  • Enriched Description - AI-generated detailed description for better search
  • Connection Metadata - Ports and protocols for schematic auto-wiring

Finding Products

Column Filters (Free)

Every product column has a built-in filter accessible via the hamburger icon () in the column header:

  • Make - Type to filter by manufacturer (e.g., "Shure", "Crestron")
  • Model - Filter by model number or name
  • Part# - Search by SKU or part number

Column filters use simple text matching and cost no AI credits. Results update instantly as you type.

Pro Tip

Use column filters for quick lookups when you know the exact Make, Model, or Part#. For natural language queries like "wireless microphone for large conference room", use Semantic Search.

Sorting

Click any column header to sort ascending. Click again to sort descending.

Bulk Operations

Select multiple products using checkboxes to:

  • Enrich with AI - Generate detailed descriptions for selected products
  • Generate Metadata - Add connection info for schematics
  • Generate Embeddings - Enable semantic search for selected products
  • Delete Selected - Remove multiple products at once
